Kids Cookery Club

I originally started the kid’s cookery club in September 2017 to see how popular it would be and if we were able to keep a large group of children entertained as well as learning a little bit about food, how it’s made and where is comes from.

My passion behind the class was to get children interested in food and what they are putting into their bodies, not to try and create the chefs of tomorrow. Seeing a lack of home economics or basic life skills taught in School, highlighted by my own schooling and now watching my daughter go through the education system.

In 2019 we launched a Key Stage 2 Cookery class that we took into Primary Schools across Essex. Unfortunately, the dreaded Covid put a halt to the momentum of this! However, towards the end of 2022 we started the Kids Cookery Club back in Schools and now are looking to re start the cookery club back at the Restaurant.

The classes are for 9-13 year olds with a passion for food, learning and getting their hands involved. They will learn basic knife skills, cooking techniques and how to make some of their favourite dishes from scratch.

The Classes initially will be held on a Wednesday starting 4:30 and finishing around 6:30 to 7pm. We will prepare a main course and a dessert and afterwards we will sit down and eat the fruits of our labour.

The dates are:

29^th May                Fish Fingers and Crème Brûlée

12^th June                Spinach and Ricotta Tortelli, Chocolate Chip Cookies

26^th June                 Vegetable Curry, Chocolate Fondants

10^th July                 Final Session dishes will be decided by the Children
